Celebrate Torrington Week!
Downtown Torrington will be home to a weeklong celebration called "Torrington Week" from August 8 - 18. The City's Parks and Recreation department is offering something for everyone, including a slate of concerts, family outings, craft shows and sports events.
Torrington Week begins with the DARE Car Show, to be held on Main Street on Friday August 8th. The car show is organized by Torrington Police Officer Tom Vannini as a fundraiser for the police department's anti-drug crusade. In addition, the American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament kicks off on August 14 and will run until August 18 at Fuessenich Park. During the tournament, participating baseball teams will travel from throughout New England to Torrington.
All concerts will be held rain or shine and are free to the public. Any person attending is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. For information on the following events, contact the Parks & Rec Department at 860-489-2274.
August 8th: DARE Car Show on lower Main Street, from 5-10 PM; Swing/jazz concert in Coe Park featuring Eight to the Bar, from 7-9 PM.
August 9th: R&B/Motown concert in Coe Park featuring Tony Harrington and Touch, from 5-6 PM; Family Show "Camp Muckalucka" in Coe Park, from 6:30-7:30 PM.
August 10th: 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on lower Main Street, from 8 AM - 5 PM; Torrington Road Race at Coe Park from 10 AM - 12 PM; Jazz concert in Coe Park featuring Autumn Leaves, from 7-9 PM.
August 11th: Big band/ swing concert in Coe Park featuring the Leo Liddle Big Band, from 7-9 PM.
August 12th: Polka concert in Coe Park featuring the Eddie Forman Orchestra, from 7-9 PM.
August 13th: Country concert in Coe Park featuring Aces & Eights from 7-9 PM.
August 14th: Start of the American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament at Fuessenich Park; Concert in Coe Park featuring the Torrington Civic Symphony, from 7-9 PM.
August 15th: American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament at Fuessenich Park; Rhythm Blues concert in Coe Park featuring Apricot Brandy, from 7-9 PM.
August 16th: American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament at Fuessenich Park; Coe Park Arts and Crafts Show, from 10 AM - 4 PM; 1-Mile Fun Run beginning in Coe Park at 6 PM (registration begins at 5:15 PM); Mardi Gras/ Cajun concert in Coe Park featuring the Riverboat Ramblers, from 7-9 PM.
August 17th: American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament at Fuessenich Park; The Downtown Merchants Group's "Downtown Street Fair" on lower Main Street, from 11 AM - 4 PM.
August 18th: Conclusion of the American Legion Northeast Regional Tournament at Fuessenich Park.
