Memorial Day Parade
The City's annual Memorial Day Parade starts Monday May 31st 9:30 AM, rain or shine, at the Torrington Plaza, One South Main Street.
Along with standards like school marching bands and Scout troops, the parade will feature military companies including the Connecticut National Guard's 102nd division band, a Groton-based group of US Navy Seabees, and an ROTC drill team from Waterbury. Connecticut Air National Guard jets will fly overhead.
The parade will follow its standard route. From the plaza, it moves past the reviewing stand at City Hall, turns onto Prospect Street, then moves down Water Street and ends back at the Shopping Plaza.
The traditional post-parade ceremony will be held at Fuessenich Park this year due to ongoing renovations at Coe Park. The committee will honor local veterans who died during the last year and has plans to recognize the 60th anniversary of the World War II battle at Normandy, France.
