Flood of 1955 Commemoration
There will be a Flood of 1955 Commemoration Ceremony on Friday, August 19th at 11 AM on the Center Bridge at the Center Municipal Parking Lot.  

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal will be the keynote speaker during the morning ceremony.  Other state and local dignitaries will take part in the event including Mayor Owen Quinn, Lt. Col. Robert Cody of the Connecticut National Guard, Sen. Andrew Roraback, and Reps. Anne Ruwet and Roberta Willis.

An historical market bearing the names of the seven Torrington residents who died during the flood will be unveiled.  The monument also depicts before and after photographs of downtown and a narrative text written by the Torrington Historical Society.
