Torrington Street Department Announces Street Sweeping Begins
Street sweeping for the City Of Torrington begins on Monday, April 3, 2006 at 7:00 a.m. Residents are urged to sweep off sidewalks and lawns, being careful to eliminate all foreign objects such as sticks, stones or branches, as these cause damage to the sweepers. It is recommended that the sand not be swept into piles.
We ask your cooperation in moving any cars which may be parked on the street when the sweepers arrive. Each street will be swept once before any return trips to the same area.
Homeowners wishing to receive a load of sweepings from their neighborhood may contact the Street Department at 489 - 2352 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and make this request.
This process is time consuming because the sweepers must move slowly. Streets will be cleaned according to a geographic schedule. Please do not call the Street Department to ask when your street will be swept. The cooperation of all residents will help to make this process as efficient as possible.
