Where do I obtain a copy of my birth certificate?

How do I obtain a copy of my birth certificate?
* Physically enter the City Clerks office
* Present a picture identification of yourself and payment by cash or check
* Inform the clerk if you want a wallet or full size certificate
* To request a birth record by mail (City Clerk's Office, 140 Main St, Torrington 06790)
* State full name and date of birth for certificate and enclose identification of yourself
* State wallet or full size
* Enclose payment along with written request on the Download Form
* Enclose a self-addressed envelope, and a phone number where we can reach you if we have a question
* If request is for a record other than your own, follow the above and also state your relationship to that person.
Who can obtain my birth certificate?
- Spouses
- Parents, Grandparents, Legal Guardians
- Children, Grandchildren
- Attorneys representing you
- Agents of State or Federal Agencies approved by the Dept. of Public Health
What can I do if I'm in a hurry for my birth certificate?
- You can send your request via overnight delivery. Include your identification and payment, and enclose a return overnight envelope with it
or
- You can fax your request to us at (860) 489-2548 and pay by credit card. Either put your credit card information on your fax or give us the credit card number by telephone --(860) 489-2236 Be sure to lighten the copy of your identification so that it comes out clearly on the fax. There is a 3% surcharge on all credit card transactions ($.60 for a $20.00 vital record)
