Meals on Wheels Program

What is the Special Diet Program?

The objective of the Special Diet Program is to meet the unique nutrition requirements of people who reside in Torrington. A qualified medical expert prescribes each diet individually for the recipient of the meals.  The Special Diet Program is intended to improve the quality of life for those unable to provide and prepare meals that meet their personal nutritional needs.

A physician orders a medical prescription for the specially prepared foods.  A family member or health care personnel often initiate this.  Charlotte Hungerford Hospital prepares the meals.  The preparation is supervised by a registered dietician and monitored for quality and accuracy.

Are the Special Meals Delivered?

Yes they are. The Special Diet Program is a Meals-on-Wheels program.  Meals are delivered between 10:00am and 12:30pm.

Is There a Fee?
