The Land Use Office is the coordination point for all activities in town that pertain to or effect the land use within the City of Torrington. The Planning and Zoning Commission, the Flood & Erosion Control Board, the Architectural Review Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals , the Conservation Commission and the Inland Wetlands Commission base their actions from this office.


2011 Legislation Pertaining to Land Use Planning & Zoning:
PA11-05 Time Extensions:  Provides that new site plan, subdivision & wetland approvals and approvals that have not expired as of May 9, 2011, are valid for a period of nine (9) years (up from 6) and may be entitled to additional extensions of up to five years, for a total permit life of 14 years.  To be eligible for extension, the permit must not have expired before May 9, 2011 and the permit holder must apply to the permitting agency prior to expiration.
