Job Description:   Works in the areas of recruiting, screening, pre-employment testing, and other Personnel plans and programs.

  • Posts positions internally to the respective unions.  Collects internal bids and facilitates internal transfers and accompanying paperwork.
  • Advertises job opportunities to the public both via printed and electronic means.
  • In some cases, creates testing materials for exams.
  • Proctors exams for internal and external job opportunities, scores exams, and notifies candidates of their exam score.
  • Interviews prospective candidates for job opportunities available to the public.
  • Conducts reference checks, employment verifications, education verifications, and some portions of the background check for candidates who have received an employment offer.
  • Sets up medical examinations for pre-employment testing, collects results, and maintains medical files.
  • Creates new employee orientation manual, updates as needed, and conducts orientation for new employees.
  • Interprets and advises employees and department heads regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act, Sexual Harassment, Family Medical Leave Act, etc.
  • Assists with onboarding of temporary seasonal employees.
  • Reviews payroll for compliance with contract language, past practice, and department of labor law.
  • Creates and maintains City organizational chart.
  • Creates annual workforce analysis document.
  • Researches, collects, analyzes data, and creates annual Affirmative Action Report.
  • Collects and submits data for Annual Report.
  • Collects data and submits employment information for internal requests regarding grants.
  • Collects data and submits data for various government surveys.
  • Provides personnel policy guidance and assistance to department heads, union representatives, and employees.
  • Serves as Coordinator of summer internship program for local high school students.
  • Audits City worksites for compliance with state and federal employment posting requirements.
