Senior Account Clerk

Building Department

The City of Torrington has an opening for a Senior Account Clerk.  This is a full time, 35 hour per week position in the Building department.  

Performs a wide range of duties which include assisting the public with questions about the permitting process, taking payments, and scheduling inspections.  The position is also required to process department payroll, track employee time off, and perform other clerical duties as assigned.  The perfect candidate is one who is quick to learn and who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment with heavy phone and face to face contact with the public.  

Minimum Qualifications: 
Graduation from High School, 4 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, including 2 years as a supervisor or office manager.  Work experience that involves customer service and proficiency in MS Office is a must.  Prior municipal experience in a permitting office is desirable.  Ability to work harmoniously with internal and external customers with a smile and positive attitude.  Please see the attached job description for further details.  

Salary: 
$23.2144 - $29.9558 per hour with an excellent benefits and retirement package.
