BULK WASTE PICK UP REQUEST FORM

As of February 1, 2022, a Bulk Waste Permit is required for all Bulk Waste Pickup. The city will continue to pick up bulk items but only with the properly obtained permit.
BULK WASTE IS PICKED UP ON YOUR REGULAR SCHEDULED TRASH DAY
Bulk waste collection is for Torrington residents with city provided trash and recycling service only. Bulk collection is not provided for properties with more than 4 apartment units or commercial businesses..
WE DO NOT PICK UP TV's, microwave ovens, or computers, ALL electronics must be brought to the recycling center on Bogue Road. See Solid Waste Department - Electronics Recycle tab for more information.
Bulk waste is defined as items that do not fit in the trash barrel. Furniture, mattresses, lamps, large mirrors (apply tape across front to minimize breakage), curtains & blinds, appliances, lawn equipment (all fluids drained), tires, LIMIT 4 MAXIMUM (no rims), large toys or carpet are examples of bulk items. Carpet must be cut into 4 foot sections, rolled, and tied and not weigh more than 50 pounds each section.
Excess bags of trash or clothing are not bulk and will not be picked up, plastic bins/totes must be empty.
Vacuum cleaners are not bulk items, please put them in your trash barrel.
Refrigerators and freezers must have doors removed and be emptied of food. Remove plastic shelves and trays and put them in the trash barrel.
Cardboard is not bulk waste and cannot be picked up. ALL Cardboard needs to be cut up and placed in the blue recycle bin.
Basketball systems: Remove backboard from pole, remove base, empty water/sand, cut pole in half.
WE DO NOT PICK UP Construction & Demolition debris such as interior or exterior doors, windows, cabinets, sinks, bathtubs, vanities, showers, shower doors, hot tubs, sheet rock, wood, plaster, roof shingles, house siding or shutters, ceramic tile, hardwood flooring, brick, stone, concrete, asphalt, fencing, liquid paints, grass clippings, dirt, wood chips, mulch and extra household trash. No Pallets. No car parts will be picked up.
A permit is only required when you have bulk items to pick up.
Please send form at least one day before scheduled trash day to allow time for processing and scheduling. Applications are not processed on the weekends.
Hours for processing applications are Mon-Thur by 3:30 pm, Fri by 12:00 noon.
This is not a blanket permit; a permit will be required each time you want to dispose of items.

Bulk Furniture; 1 sofa, 1 love seat, 2 chairs, 1 dresser, 3 tables, 1 mattress, 2 box springs, etc.
Bulk appliances; 1 washer, 1 dishwasher, 1 hot water heater tank, etc.
Other Bulk Items: 1 toilet, 4 tires (must be off rims for pick up), etc.
COLORS AND SIZES OF ITEMS ARE NOT REQUIRED
