The duties of the Registrars Office include the following:
Registration of voters, taking enrollments in the respective parties, party transfers and erasures.
Keeping statistics on new voters and deaths; Address changes are made daily.
Hiring and training Election Day officials, preparing all material and having all records up to date to assure an orderly election process.
Conduct an annual canvass by mail to verify the addresses of each elector in Torrington.
Hold voters sessions at the two local high schools every year, and whenever required by the Secretary of State's Office.
Attend two Secretary of the State conferences annually to keep up to date with the constantly changing election laws. Attend meetings with registrars of Voters Association of Connecticut (ROVAC).
Redistricting
Due to redistricting, Torrington is now split between the 64th and 65th assembly districts, the 8th and 30th senatorial districts, and the 1st and 5th congressional districts.
