***PLEASE NOTE, PAYING WITH OUR E-CHECK & CREDIT/DEBIT PAYMENT OPTIONS INCLUDES FEES IF YOU PAY AT HOME OR IN OUR OFFICE.***

We have a DROP BOX for you to leave your payment at City Hall. It is located to the left of the door on the south side of the building at the top of the handicap entrance. NO CASH IN THE DROP BOX PLEASE!!  (***Please note: The Tax Collector’s office is not responsible for any items left in this drop box that are not intended for the purposes of paying a tax and/or sewer usage bill.)

All sewer usage bills are being mailed to taxpayers. If your sewer usage bill is escrowed, please send it to your mortgage company immediately. If you are not sure, contact them. Otherwise, it is payable as it states on the bill.

The easiest, most convenient, most economical, and most reliable way to pay your taxes is by an EFT Check (Electronic Check / ACH payment). Click on the above link entitled Search & Pay Bills Online for more details. For a fee of only $0.95, you can eliminate the anxiety and delay of mailing your payment. You may also pay your taxes using this link with a credit, debit or bank card for a fee of 2.65% (minimum $1.50). Please visit the following link for further details.
 

You may pay by mail. Use the envelope we provide with your bill, or send your payment to our office at City of Torrington Tax Collector, 140 Main Street, Room 134, Torrington, CT 06790. **Please note that we have to use the US Postmark on an envelope to determine when and how to charge interest and/or penalties. If a payment is not postmarked by the US Post Office, we need to use the date when our office receives the bill.

The Tax Collector's Office is responsible for the collection of payments for Real Estate taxes, Sewer Usage Fees, Personal Property taxes and Motor Vehicle taxes. The Tax Office takes great pride in the efficiency with which tax matters are handled. The office is responsible for thorough accounting of all records and funds administered. A courteous attitude is mandatory while upholding high standards of ethical conduct and operating in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.

The City of Torrington's October 1, 2022 Grand List mill rate is 47.9636 mills for Real Estate and Personal Property bills and 32.46 mills for Motor Vehicle and Supplemental Motor Vehicle bills. This means that for every $1,000 of assessment on Real Estate or Personal Property you will pay approximately $47.96 and on Motor Vehicle you will pay $32.46. The WPCA has set the sewer usage fee for the fiscal year 2022-2023 as $392 per unit for Residential properties and $392 per 65,000 gallons for Commercial/Industrial properties.
