Up to 19 hours per week. 

Job Description: Torrington Parks and Recreation is seeking a qualified applicant to work as Camp Counselor in the Torrington Recreation Summer Camp located at Elise Besse Pool and/or Borzani Park.  The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with elementary and middle school aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Camp Counselors work under the supervision of the Site Coordinator(s) and the Torrington Parks and Recreation office. 

Major Responsibilities: 

• Assist Site Coordinator(s) in operation of Summer Camp daily. 
• Supervise children and provide a safe, welcoming environment.
• Maintain positive relationships with families, children, and Recreation personnel.
• Daily set up and cleanup of program site 
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular and consistent attendance is considered mandatory and is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with school-aged children. 
• Knowledge of Child Development preferred.
• Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities preferred.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to stand for entire shift and move through program space (indoor and outdoor) with students.
